Sawmillers use every means to recover as much yield from each log as possible.
The value of recovered timber from sideboards is often the difference between profit or mill closure. The same is true for an efficient block or cant resawing programme that adds to the bottom-line.
This is even more important in a high-speed, industrial sawmilling environment where the opportunities to recover more, process faster and more accurately and efficiently quickly duplicate.
If a recovery programme cannot keep up with the volumes that pass through the mill and efficiency and accuracy lag, the process is off to a bad start.
To realise all these objectives is, therefore, a golden ideal that all sawmillers aim for.
Wood-Mizer resaw solutions
Wood-Mizer has a full range of resaw solutions available for entry level through to industrial scale sawmilling operations.
For entry-level sawmillers, the range makes it easy for sawmillers to increase output by resawing blocks into boards instead of processing the log to boards on a sawmill. Manufacturers can also reduce their solid timber purchasing costs by buying thicker material at discounted rates and then resawing to the required thickness.
Wood-Mizer thin-kerf narrow bandsaw industrial resaw range offers single and multi-head resawing solutions that can process up to six boards in one pass. The range is tooled to meet the demands of light to medium-sized industrial sawmills where volumes, accuracy and speed are increasingly important to build profits.
Wood-Mizer TITAN resaw range
Industrial scale sawmilling requires resawing capacity that can meet the demands of the sector.
Wood-Mizer’s heavy industrial TITAN resaw range is specifically designed to allow for the high-speed and accurate recovery of large volumes of available timber from sideboards as well as the resawing of blocks or cants.
The range offers narrow and wide bandsaw resawing solutions that use innovative design matched to aggressive build quality and performance to deliver the accuracy, output and speed that the sector demands.
Wood-Mizer TITAN HR2000 Hybrid Resaw
The TITAN Hybrid range, which consists of primary and secondary breakdown solutions, resulted from the idea to bridge the gap between narrowband and wideband technologies in the small to medium sized sawmilling sector.
This allows for a sawmilling solution that gives sawmillers the flexibility to either run wideband profiles for more performance or narrow band profiles for those looking for a simpler saw doctoring process.
Wood-Mizer’s TITAN HR2000 Hybrid resaw that is part of the Hybrid range, offers heavy-duty resawing capacity at a very affordable price.
The affordability of the unit, the customisation possibilities that it offers and the productivity that it gives, empower sawmillers to widen margins and extend efficiencies.
The Wood-Mizer TITAN HR2000 in a single head configuration.
The ability to run blade widths that vary in size from 32 to 80 mm (1.25 – 3 inch) can be customised further with the choice to run spring set, swage set and Stellite tipped (65 to 80mm wide) saws on one head rig.
If clients want to run narrower (38 or 50mm) wide saws, this can also be done.
When fitted with 3-inch stellite-tipped blades, this machine is more than capable of feed speeds in excess of 40m/min without wavering in the cut.

The unit uses the high strain TITAN column design to offer accurate, highspeed resawing capacity and maximum versatility.
A 350mm wide by 290 mm high throat provides adequate capacity to process sideboards or blocks and cants.
The solid framed unit can easily be moved and integrated into an existing line.
The Wood-Mizer TITAN HR200 Hybrid resaw is available in a single or twin-head configuration to add to the productivity of the unit.
Pneumatically assisted, powered hold-down rollers matched heavy duty slat-chain in and outfeed beds that can be variably adjusted together with a stationary arbour drive wheel system, add to the value of the unit.
Wood-Mizer TITAN HR4000 and HR6000 resaw range
Wood-Mizer’s TITAN HR4000 and R6000 resaws are available in a single or twin-blade configuration and offer ultra-fast size changes during the resawing process.
Both units are equipped with an electric servo sizing system that allows for on-the-fly size changes.
As little as 0.3 seconds is needed to change the size for each and every sideboard (depending on thickness), even when feeding at over 20 pieces per minute (depending on board length).
As a result, optimal recovery is achieved, unlocking extra product that previously would have gone to waste.
Importantly, no sorting of material is needed prior to this machine.
Both the TITAN HR4000 and TITAN HR6000 models are equipped with heavy-duty feed systems.
The Wood-Mizer Titan HR4000 and 6000 are equipped with electric servo sizing systems that allow for on-the-fly size changes.
A slatted-chain in and outfeed bed, provide an aggressive surface that can receive and transport material through the head in large and consistent volumes. Heavy duty overhead in and outfeed rollers assist with the process and also ensure that the material is squarely driven through the head for an accurately cut end product.
With its larger 4-inch (101mm) and 6-inch (152mm) blades, the TITAN 4 and 6 are capable of faster feed speeds. Adding to productivity and speed of the unit is the option to choose between a single and twin head configuration. The twin head unit produces two board from one sideboard in only one pass.
The units offer feed speeds of between 60 and 80 m/min. Throat widths vary between 430 and 450 mm.
Springset, swaged or stellite-tipped blades can be used on both units.
